More of Fred

Here's what Frederick the Literate looked like at the beginning of his rotation slot:

and here's how he looks now:

For me, that's a pretty big chunk done! I think I liked working 'Owlbert' best (yeah, I named him) He was mostly blends, which I don't usually like, but he was just cute!
Next rotation (in February), I want to do the book next to Owlbert, finish the bottom shelf over to Owlbert, and then backstitch what I have done. Then Fred will be officially 50% finished!

And I started another project!
But it's not a stitching project. It's been a long time since I worked a jigsaw puzzle, but I really like doing them. Very calming after a stressful day, almost as good as cross stitch! I got several as gifts over the holidays, so I thought I'd start one - then I counted the unopened boxes - some gifts, some I bought over the past year or two - and I have fourteen puzzles I've never done! So I decided to see how many I could get done before Spring. I'm way out of practice, so it's slow work so far. Especially on my first choice, a puzzle of Oxtounge Falls. I think that's in Ontario. Anyway, it's mostly water, so yikes! Here it is with the edge pieces put together:

It's a 750 piece puzzle, so I have a loooooong way to go.

I also changed my blog colors, as you probably noticed. I got tired of dark. It's Winter, I wanna see green!

SnowKat

Finished this yesterday!

Design: 'SnowKat' by Kats by Kelly
Fabric: 14ct white
Finished Size: about 8x10

I dunno why the French knots look all twisted; the scanner flattened them, I guess. Bleh. I MUST buy a cable for my good camera!

This pattern only took me about three days; just the first day was in November '08 and the next were in January '09. That's all.

My Crooked Works in Progress

I thought I'd show part of the reason why my large projects don't advance very quickly.

It's because I can't resist starting/working on littler things.
And they don't get done very quickly, either, because I gotta do more than one.

^__^

so here's the little ones I'm working on, and for some reason, my scanner decided that they all needed to be crooked.

This one is Retro January Kat. It's a non-professional Freebie, but I don't remember where I got it. It's gonna be really cute, though I'm sort of wishing I had used blue floss for the background instead of the green the designer chose. The snowflakes don't show up as well as I'd like. It's small, but it's solid stitching. I'm doing it on 18ct antique white.

This is 'Cold Hands, Warm Heart' - another non-professional Freebie. If I can just remember the site name, I'll add it next time. This one's actually not that small of a project. I only started it a day or two ago. This is what I had done on 'Snowkat' when I put it away back in - uh, November, I think.I got this much done since yesterday.

I haven't stopped working on Fred though - I have another book done! The big, fat, mauve book.

Fred's Progress

Here's where I what I have done so far on Fred:

You can see how he looked before over there to the left :) Just scroll down some.

Two books down, two books and an owl (and maybe some bottom shelf) to go. Then I'm starting my Mighty Samurai, who finally showed up in the mail! Yay!

A Puppy Face!

Achoo! has finished his rotation slot - I'm moving on to Frederick the Literate, but I thought I'd show off my progress:

That's one cute lil' puppy face. I finished his face, ears, and part of his neck. Ignore the white spots, they ARE stitched! :D

Next round, I'm going to try to get halfway down his body and backstitch his head.

A Finish and a Find!

I finished 'Irish Coffee' yesterday. So, started it January 1st, finished it January 6th.

Pattern: 'Irish Coffee' by The Sampler Girl

Fabric: 16 ct mystery fabric bought at a local store

Floss: DMC substitutes

Size: about 3 1/4 by 6 1/2

And my Magi turned up in my mum's car! Yay! This means it didn't go to Georgia and I don't have to wait months for my brother to get around to mailing it back. Here's how far I had gotten before it vanished:

Ooooo! Invisible Magi bearing gifties! Spooky!

Starting the New Year Right

I started two projects on January 1st - here they are, with their current progress!

#1 - Irish Coffee. This one's a freebie from The Sampler Girl and I'm nearly done with it.

#2 - Achoo! by Dimensions. There's some white floss work in there, it's just hard to see.

This is the top of his lil' head.

The only other thing I plan to start in January is The Mighty Samurai, if it gets here in time. When I finish Irish Coffee, I'm going to work on my Snowkat.

Gifts and Goals

Well, yeah, so I'm late posting this sort of thing!
I cawn't help it... I'm lazy!

Here's what I got for Christmas - and were my eyes boggling. I never get the stitchy-stuff I ask for, let alone things I didn't ask for!

Dimensions 'Achoo' - I mentioned this one to my brother earlier this year when it first came out, and he actually remembered!!! I think it might be 'cause he loves Dalmations, though. This is one of two things I started on Jan 1st, and I'll show ya'll some progress pics tomorrow!

Dimensions Gold Collection 'The Mighty Samurai' . I asked for it, but I never thought I'd get it!!! My brother couldn't find it anywhere, so had to order it online. I don't actually have it in my hot little hands yet, but it's on its way - and so is...

Dimensions Gold Collection 'Elegance of the Orient' ! I didn't even ask for her! Wanted her, yes, asked for her, no! This one is from my mom; my brother ordered it for her at the same time he ordered the Samurai, so neither are here yet, but should be any day!!!

I'm so EXCITED!!!

Winter Knits Kit. My brother and sister-in-law found this for me at Micheals. Got some niiiiice goodies in it, too!

My sister got me other things I like - mainly computer games! So it's surprising I'm here to post and not holed up in front of the computer or in my stitchy-spot!

My goals for 2009 -

1. Finish Frederick the Literate (xs)

2. Finish Archangel (xs)

3. Start Mighty Samurai

4. Start (done!) AND finish Achoo!

5. Finish my Dr. Who scarf (knit)

6. Get more squares done on my lace tablecloth (crochet)

7. Finish Spike (xs)

8. Reach the 1/2 mark on Wufei (xs)

9. Finish Going to Market (xs)

10. Learn to knit well enough to make these:

oh, and just in case anyone is wondering about my breifly-mentioned little kit of the Three Wise Men - it has vanished. I think it may have taken a trip to Georgia in my brother's car. He's promised to look for it. :C
