The Eagle Has Landed!

Finally!!!

God Bless America
Kit by Janlynn
3 over 1, 11ct
10x13 inches

Every missed stitch, backstitch, and French knot finished :D  (The knots are in the blue part of the lettering.  They don't show up too well in the picture.)  The backstitching was killer, and then didn't really show up all that gloriously unless you're really looking.  Linda Gillum is sadistic, lol!

I forgot to post my IHSW progress, and I've contined to stitch a bit on Lovers, so I'll post an update on it later.

Witch Stitch and Bits is still closing, and now their patterns are 40% off.  I've added these to my collection:

Penguins in Snow I and II, Kitten Playing I-IV, African Elephant, Keeping Guard, Tiger!, Mum's Protection,  Moonlit Tiger, Midnight Run

Yards of Yummy Yarn!

I got my Herrschner's yarn order in today, and also bought some yarn at WalMart while I was grocery shopping.  So I piled all my yarn together just to look at it.

Photobucket

Isn't this yummy?  This is yarn for my Mum's grey afghan, my Sis-in-Law's tan one, my brother's rust-peach-brown-white ripple, and some of what I need for the baby's afghan.  I still have three afghans with no yarn, and my Brother-in-Law's has about half its yarn.

Also I'm still working on Witch Stitch and Bits! I cleaned all the change out of my purses and used it to buy my gas today, and used what would have been gas money for these:

In order - Stripes, Will You Join Us, Bonnie and Clyde, The Climber, Sweet Butterfly, and Enchanted Web.

Still not done with my list!  Can you say 'stash addiction'?

Playing Switcheroo

My sis-in-law had fun going through my afghan books when she came in for the holidays, and as a result some of my projects are being changed.  I haven't updated the Afghan page yet, but here's the changes:

Her afghan is going from this:

To this:
Photobucket

Only in a pretty tan color - which happens to be the same color I'm using in my mum's never-ending afghan, so I borrowed a skein, and I've gotten one of the seven strips done, and another started.  There are 17 diamonds per strip, then they are sewn together and an edging done all 'round.

Photobucket

She said my oldest nephew would love this one:

But would like this one even better, because it looks like Lego blocks.
Photobucket

It really does, too, I think.  The colors will be the same.

And I chose, myself, to change my unborn nephews afghan from this:
Photobucket

To one of sewn-together large-size granny squares, all in greens with a few white ones added.  Here's two made in the variegated that I'm using to select the other colors - there will be five of this color, five light green, five medium, and five white.
Photobucket

They will all be edged in dark green and I want to put a dark green border around them.  I think it will make a cute afghan for when he's a toddler.  I already made a yellow knitted one for when he's born - it's part of the reason I didn't get the other projects done.  I didn't put pics because she sometimes reads my blog - and THEN I forgot to take a finished pic before she left.  So I will have to bug her for one :D

I have ordered all the yarn for my Mum's afghan and most of what I need for my brother's - I got the notification that the package is at the post office so I'll pick it up tomorrow.  I'm also going to be going and buying all they yarn for my Sis-in-law's afghan and the remainder that I need for my brother's and the green one, so I will take a pic of my yarn mountain and show you guys!

Oh, also I paid my oldest HAED layaway off, so these are officially mine:

The Turtle Trot

The lovely lady at BAP Attack  (and if you think my WIP list is huge, you've seen NOTHING until you've seen hers!)  is hosting a SAL called 'The Turtle Trot'.

For this SAL you pick 13 projects that are going to take a while - you don't have to finish them.  Just post a pic of them, and then whatever progress you may have made on the 13th of every month.

Here are the first four of mine all gotten out before I did anything to them - only Fred has gotten a few stitches so far.

This is Mirabilia's 'Archangel', L and L's 'Angel of Grace', 'Frederick the Literate', and QS 'Lovers'.
Photobucket
Wow, Lovers is really tiny!

The others on my list are:

5. Chang Wufei

6. Gettysburg

7. Celtic Christmas

8. Snowing (just started)
Photobucket

9. Guardian Angel (starting sometime this week, gridded it up today - is that a start?)
Photobucket

10. Erestor
Photobucket

11. 23rd Psalm
Photobucket

12. Mary Wigham
Photobucket

13. QS Cardinal Song

All of these have quite a bit to do - I think Angel of Grace is closest to a finish.

Snowing - It Begins

Remember this adorable guy?

Photobucket

Well, Evalina bought the pattern, too, and we have started a SAL!  She's much further than I am, which should suprise exactly no one.

Here's my tiny start - I did most of this on January 1st, which was when I began - he is my traditional New Year's start! - and then I spent most of the rest of the week in bed asleep.  He's gotten a little further, but not too much.

Photobucket

I'm stitching him one-over-one on 28ct, so he's going to be pretty tiny!  I'm also trying out parking for the first time, so that's slowing me down a little bit.  It's kind of fun, but I don't know if I could handle a lot of colors.  So far I'm only using six needles.

In related news, I've cleaned up my WIP page - it's gone from 84 down to 77.  I did delete 'God Bless America' even though it's not quite done, because I didn't feel like coming back and doing it later, and also because I want to try and finish it up this evening.  So really I have 78 WIPs right now.  Yikes.

Oh, yeah, and Snowing is one of the soon-to-be-gone patterns by WSnB - see previous post!

Witch Stitch and Bits is Closing! :C

Witch Stitch and Bits has announced that the site is closing as of January 31st.
Some of the charts will be available on another site (at a different price!) but most of the ones on my list won't be, so I'll be spending a bit more than usual to get my list done.
They are super cheap to start with, but are 25% off right now!  So grab them before they're gone, if you had your eye on any!

I got these so far, and I'm combing through my list to see if I really want some of the others - I had 22 left on it, and most of them I still like.  But I can't grab them all - at least not this payday :D  I have a HAED layaway to pay off this month.

Of course, this is going to make me add another hundred years or so to the length of time I need to live to stitch them... but that may be a bonus!

**Edit**  Also, the price goes down a little more when you pay with PayPal - eight patterns ended up being $14.90 in US dollars.

**EDIT AGAIN**
Since I'm showing stash pics, I thought I'd add the two HAEDs I got during Christmas!

Very pretty, yes?  I was tickled to get them.  My Mum picked the top one and my sis the bottom one, and both really reflect their own tastes - is it a hint, maybe?

Landing Gear Down

So I'm really, really late posting again.

It's been since last year!  (wow, I bet lots of people have used that joke...)

Anyway, I have a tolerably good few excuses.  I've had to work a lot, and I've had what I thought was a horrible, horrible cold but that the Dr informs me is walking pneumonia   Yick.  I used to get that all the time in the winter, but it's been awhile and I had forgotten just how icky it is.

Anyway - Eagle!

Due to sleeping most of my spare time away, he's not done.  But he is very, very close!

Here's the last four colors:  Dark Red
Photobucket

Dark Cocoa Brown (I think that's what it was called)
Photobucket

And I flubbed at the end and apparently didn't take a pic with just Very Dark Red added, so here is Very Dark Red and Very Dark Brown to finish all the cross stitching off!  This pic was taken on December 31st, to show how far behind I am on posting XD
Photobucket

And if you think that pic looks prettier - yes, it does.  It's with my very brand new wonderful (so far) camera :D  Yay for Christmas prezzies!  I haven't gotten the focus perfected but the colors are MUCH less washed out.

Only the Backstitching is left and I'm about halfway done. (There is a LOT!  All those feathers!)  I hope to finish up tomorrow or the day after.  So there will be another post soon!  I also have some new stitching starts and one wee finish to show you guys.
