Mulberry House UFO

This was my UFO project in May.

My Mulberry House Sampler as it was:

And as it is now, with much more than the promised 100 stitches. My scanner, sadly, has decided that crooked isn't good enough, it must make things dark now, as well. The colors in the first pic are much closer to the real life colors.
I've decided to stick with this one for now; once I finish the house and tree, there's only the alphabet, numbers, and a row of hearts to do. I can get it done in a few days if I actually have the time to stitch.

More of My Angel

For once, finishing a 'goal' didn't make me put a project away for who-knows-how-long. Angel of Grace has kept my extremely short attention span long enough to get both of the left overskirts done, and the first section of the green overskirt on the right. It's divided up by a purple ribbon/streamer, so it's easy enough to call it a section. Also got a bit of the pink/white underskirt done.

You can see how much of it I had done in the post... um, two below this one, I think.

I've taken her off the q-snaps and put Mulberry House back on, but all I've done so far is look at it. Maybe I'll go back to Gracie... I find myself enamoured of the greens on her dress; on the pattern pic they looked like a washed-out bronze-green, but IRL they are very rich, velvety shades. The gold is kind of mustard-bronze, which I'm not as fond of, but it blends nicely enough so I'm not changing it.

On the crocheting side, I've finished up some more baby jackets. I'm trying to use up stash yarn - this one took every bit of a small amount of bright pink that I had, and I needed to make white sleeves. I have just enough pink yarn that I could put a row of pink sc on a white hat if I decide to make one to match.

Sorry the pic is so small, but it was the dead of night and my camera is lousy, so I had to back halfway across the room so the flash wouldn't wash the color completely out.

I've also finished a green jacket, but I'm going to make a matching hat (and possibly bloomers) before I post a pic of it.

Jacket & Afghan

I made this afghan for my Mum for Mother's Day - the dye lots for the rose-mauve color were exactly the same, number-wise, but obviously something was wrong somewhere. Fortunately, you can only see the difference with the camera flash. With daylight and regular house-lights, the colors look exactly the same. Still, it's a bit irritating and I'm not sure I'll buy this yarn again.
Though, I'll admit, it was nice and soft and very easy to work with :D

I made this baby jacket and hat to give to my friend Sarah, who made a matching afghan. They're for her friend, who has a little boy due on the 20th of May. I think they came out really cute! I haven't made a baby jacket in long time.

Angel of Grace update

I've been working on my Angel of Grace, and I've finished her wings (at least, to the right of her, there's a bit of a wing showing on the left that I haven't done yet)
I've also finished an afghan and a baby jacket; I'll post pics of them tomorrow.

January Cat and others

First off, I need to apologize, sort of - my computer apparently has something against blogs right now - I can read everyone's updates in Google Reader but if I actually open the blog to comment - crash! goes my internet. Doesn't seem to matter what blog it is; blogger, blogspot, livejournal... occasionally one will stay open, but 95 times out of 100 ... and I have no idea why this is happening :C
Anyway! My January Retro Cat is done! Pardon the attack of the evil crooked-making scanner! I think this is so cute and I definitley want to do the rest of the series, though I plan to change some of the lil' sayings. This little bugger has over 3500 stitches in it, since I did the background, too, but it's only about 3x4.5 inches.

January Retro Cat
started 01/?09
finished 03/31/09
stitched on 18ct
pattern: freebie from cyberstitchers.com

I have also stitched the 'crown' on my Claddaugh:
And started a fraktur that I've been wanting to do for years but never got around to!
This is the first one and one/half motifs:
I'm a bit iffy about the fabric I chose - it's linen and very, very thin. I may restart - but I doubt it. I'll probably have it stretched over some sort of backing.
Hope everyone's stitching is going well, and Happy Easter to those who celebrate it!!!

A Crocheting Update

I'll try for a Cross-Stitch update tomorrow - my Retro kitty is finished (for over a week now, lol!) and I have some progress pics plus a new start.

But for now, some Crochet news!

I finished my Rainbow Ripple afghan - it's chair-sized, for my mum, who likes afghans on chairs and couches.

And I started another afghan - this one is a star. I started with a pattern I found online:

Then I decided to go my own way and add more points:

And this is my progress thus far:

I have some kinks to work out, because it's not quite laying flat. Or it may need blocking - I don't know yet. I'm going to ask my grandmother, who is an expert! This is the first pattern I've ever designed on my own. I've seen six-point stars that people have added points to, but never a five-point. I like this much better :D
Last, look what I got at a local junk/goodwill type store!
Doesn't smell like smoke, isn't dirty, and the skiens are completely full - and I got it all for $1 ! Yay!
